On July 10, LVMH Thélios eyewear inaugurated a new facility in Longarone, in the heart of Italy’s Veneto eyewear district, entirely dedicated to the production of metal frames. Covering 20,000 m² and employing around 400 people, the site joins the acetate production plant opened in 2018, creating an integrated 40,000 m² center of excellence for Made in Italy luxury eyewear.
LVMH Thélios Eyewear and the New Production Hub
The project stems from the 2023 acquisition of a former Safilo plant. Thélios renovated the entire complex without halting production, integrating 250 local employees and upgrading workspaces, facilities, and green areas. This investment marks a strategic move to strengthen LVMH Thélios eyewear’s leadership in the premium segment, focusing on both innovation and craftsmanship.
However, the opening is not just an industrial milestone. It is also a commitment to the local community, thanks to collaboration with the Veneto Region, which helped safeguard jobs and preserve local know-how. As a result, Longarone consolidates its role as the capital of Italian eyewear manufacturing.
High-Tech Meets Craftsmanship at LVMH Thélios Eyewear
Inside the new facility, all production stages take place: from metalworking to assembly, from chroming to polishing. Each step combines artisanal skills with state-of-the-art machinery, ensuring the highest quality standards. Among the metal models produced here are the Celine Triomphe, Dior Cannage, and Fendi Crystal — all distinctive designs signed by LVMH Thélios eyewear.
Moreover, the site was designed with sustainability in mind, featuring low-energy lighting systems and optimized spaces for employee well-being. This approach reflects Thélios’s commitment to merging luxury with social responsibility in a unified industrial vision.
A Strategic Future for Made in Italy
According to CEO Alessandro Zanardo, the new plant is not just an expansion, but a strategic investment in the future. With this development, LVMH Thélios eyewear aims to respond more quickly to the needs of LVMH maisons while strengthening its position in the global luxury eyewear market.
The Longarone hub thus stands as a tangible example of how Italy can maintain a central role in high-end manufacturing, combining tradition, innovation, and attention to social and economic impact.
